Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 E. Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85050
This past spring we took our visiting friend from New York to this museum and we had such a fantastic time. It is "the most extrordinary museum you will ever hear." It takes most of the day to view the galaries. We were able to enjoy a close encounter with the instruments themselves, enhanced by audio and video that bring to life the sounds and sights of the instruments. One of our favorite galleries was the Experience Gallery where we were able to play many of the instruments that were in the museum. We could not help but to agree with Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as we left the museum that "music is the universal language of mankind."
